FLK Gantry Crane
The FLK gantry crane is a lifting system featuring a hoisting mechanism mounted on the crossbeam of a gantry frame; the height of the frame ensures adequate ground clearance for the suspended load. The gantry frame travels along ground-mounted rails, enabling longitudinal movement across the site, while the hoist mechanism allows for lateral (side-to-side) and vertical movement, effectively handling the positioning of loads.

Equipped with robust, wide crossbeams, extended ground rails, and powerful lifting gear, the FLK gantry crane covers vast workspaces and handles exceptionally heavy or oversized loads. Consequently, these cranes excel in environments such as railway stations, ports, mines, heavy industrial plants, and large-scale warehousing centers.
Key components of the gantry crane include ground rails, the horizontal main girder (beam), support legs, the trolley, the hoisting mechanism, and the electrical control system. These components work in unison to achieve three-dimensional movement: the entire crane travels longitudinally along the ground rails; the trolley moves along the main girder for lateral positioning; and the hoisting mechanism manages vertical movement. This combination of movements ensures loads are smoothly transported to their target locations.
FLK Gantry Crane Ground Rails
90% of these crane rails utilize high-manganese alloy steel (railway-grade steel). The rails serve two critical functions: distributing the load to maintain crane stability and defining the path for longitudinal travel. Acting as both the support and the boundary for operation, the system consists of two parallel rails. Compared to EOT (overhead) cranes, gantry crane rails feature wider spacing and greater length, enabling coverage of a much larger operational area.

Precautions:
The rails must be straight, level, and rigid. Waterproofing is essential to prevent structural collapse due to water exposure, and proper installation ensures even load distribution, preventing damage to the crane or the suspended load.
FLK Gantry Crane Girder
The FLK gantry crane girder functions like the lintel of a doorway and is welded to the support legs. It serves as the track for the trolley, allowing it to move laterally along the beam. It bears the total load—comprising the weight of the trolley, the hoisting mechanism, the hook, and the lifted object—making it the most critical structural component of the crane. Gantry crane lifting capacities range from 30 to 200 tons, with girder specifications varying accordingly.

- Optimized design: Provides a smooth track for the horizontal (left-right) movement of the trolley.
Material: FLK crane girders are constructed from high-strength steel capable of withstanding extreme loads.
Classification: FLK cranes are categorized into single-girder and double-girder types; single-girder cranes handle lighter loads, while double-girder cranes are designed for heavy-duty applications.
FLK Gantry Crane Support Legs
The support leg assembly consists of two main components: the support legs themselves and the gantry crane drive system.

There are four support legs in total, arranged in two pairs (left and right). Within each pair, the two legs are welded together with longitudinal stiffeners to form an H-shaped support structure. The upper section of this H-structure is welded to the girder, while the lower section is welded to the drive mechanism, completing the gantry crane assembly.
FLK Gantry Crane Drive System
The drive mechanism is housed in a semi-enclosed casing containing the crane wheels, axles, motors, and cable reels. Welded to the support legs, it bears the crane’s total weight and transfers the load to the ground rails. Upon activation, the motor drives the wheels, enabling the crane to move forward and backward along the rails.

FLK Gantry Crane Trolley
The FLK gantry crane trolley is a large metal platform that integrates the drive mechanism. Rail wheels mounted at the bottom of the platform allow it to traverse left and right. The platform houses the hoisting mechanism (the component that lifts the load)—comprising large motors, gears, and transmissions—as well as power transmission systems and controls, making it the core component of the gantry crane.

- Lifts and lowers heavy, large objects.
- Enables lateral (left-to-right) movement of objects.
- Provides precise positioning, which is particularly important during loading operations.
Classification: FLK crane trolleys come in two models—suspended monorail trolleys and dual-rail trolleys. Neither is inherently superior; the choice depends on the crane’s specific application scenario.
FLK Gantry Crane Hoisting Mechanism
The FLK crane’s hoisting mechanism consists of several sub-components—including the motor, gearbox, wire rope, rope drum, rope or chain, hook, and brake—tightly integrated into the lifting assembly. Responsible for lifting, lowering, moving, and repositioning materials, this mechanism serves as the heart of the gantry crane.
Functions:
- The hoisting mechanism drives the hook up and down to facilitate the movement of objects.
- The braking system ensures smooth landing of the load and guarantees operational safety.
- Components of varying strengths are selected based on lifting requirements to determine the mechanism’s lifting capacity and the crane’s maximum load rating.
Lifting & Rigging Attachments
C-hooks, clamps, fork tines, grabs, spreaders, magnetic lifters, lifting baskets or buckets, sling release systems, lifting beams, tongs or grapples, vacuum lifters, and weighing equipment. The crane hook is the component that connects directly to the load; its upper end attaches to the wire rope or chain, while its lower end suspends and connects to the material being lifted. Electrical System
The electrical system encompasses all components related to power transmission and drive mechanisms, including cables, motors, inverters, brakes, and control panels. Functions:
- Supplies power to the motors, enabling the crane to travel longitudinally, the trolley to move laterally, and the hoist mechanism to lift and lower loads.
- Controls motor speed to ensure smooth and precise operation.
- Features an overload alarm system to warn of excessive weight and prevent safety accidents.
Control System: FLK cranes offer three control methods: an operator’s cab, a pendant control box, and a radio remote control.
The operator’s cab serves as the control center for the bridge crane, where the operator sits to maneuver the crane. It is suitable for smaller cranes or those operating in confined spaces.
Pendant controls (handheld push-button units) or radio remote controls are often used as alternatives.
